Bhuban High School
Established in 1948, the school continues its mission of accessible, value-based education for every learner.
Our Story
Bhuban High School was established on 1st April 1948 by two visionary philanthropists of the village, Late Bhagabat Mishra and Late Sridhar Rout of neighbouring Ekatali, who dreamt of bringing quality education within reach of the children of Bhuban and its surrounding villages. The school began modestly in two thatched-roof rooms, and under the long and dedicated stewardship of its first Headmaster, Late Umesh Chandra Mishra, it quickly grew in reputation across the Dhenkanal district for the quality and discipline of its teaching, especially in Mathematics, Science and the Humanities.
Over the decades Bhuban High School expanded to include classes 6 to 10 (and for a period, a Higher Secondary wing up to class 11), along with a residential hostel that, at its peak, housed close to 90 outstation students from across the region. Generations of devoted teachers nurtured thousands of students who went on to become engineers, doctors, scientists, civil servants, professors, artists and entrepreneurs - carrying the values of the school with them wherever they went.
In December 2023, Bhuban High School proudly celebrated its Platinum Jubilee (1948-2023), marking 75 years of service to education under the enduring motto, "Our strength lies in our roots." The Bhuban High School Old Students' Association came together to publish a commemorative souvenir, "Smaranika," capturing the school's rich history, cherished memories, and the achievements of its alumni - a legacy this website is proud to help carry forward for current students, teachers and alumni alike.
Today, Bhuban High School continues to serve students from Class 1 to Class 10, staying true to the founding vision of its three founding figures - Late Bhagabat Mishra, Late Sridhar Rout, and Late Umesh Chandra Mishra - while embracing modern teaching methods and facilities to prepare its students for a brighter tomorrow.
Mission
